The US started to engage in railroad building in 1827, when the merchants of Baltimore, Maryland chartered the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad which opened in 1830. One should remember that during the same year the first US passenger regular train service began in Charleston, SC. Railroads spread rapidly in the eastern and southern states in the early 1800s. Practically, a creative essay is a piece of non-fiction text where special emphasis is given to artistic qualities and vivid presentation. Though sometimes creative essays include slight embellishing, they must not be confused with fictional writing, because they represent true events while fictional writing may describe be true or made up events or setting.
There are several kinds of creative essays. The most popular are narrative and descriptive essays. Narrative essay explicate writer’s personal experiences. For example, the writer may describe his travel experience in a travel essay, or he may describe any story that occurred in his lifetime in a narrative essay.
Descriptive essay deals with description of a place, person, or other object that are somehow significant to the writer. Often colorful imagery and language are employed in such essays so the reader could look at the essay object with the eyes of the writer. This type of essay doesn’t merely describe something, however. It demonstrates why the object of description is important for the author.
The majority of academic or informative essays have a clear and standard structure. This is not the case with creative essays. They do not follow any particular structure and are written to entertain and impress the reader. They reveal the emotional side and provoke the reader to express personal emotions when reading the essay. Thus when writing a creative essay a writer structures it in the way that is most applicable to the emotional level of the essay. Very often the events of a creative essay are arranged in non-chronological order, jumping back and forth to certain point. So, the structure of the essay is formed by the essay subject. That’s why before writing a creative essay the writer must think carefully about the best way of story presentation.
Giving a title to a creative essay is a tool many professional writers use. In order to write an effective essay a student may practice it too to be original. The secret is to use a double-title and written in two lines: the first part of the title should be intriguous, and the other one explanatory.
